This year we are creating one (or two) travel team(s) to compete in the local Suburban Essex League. The league typically has 8-10 local towns that participate. Travel team players will be selected based on their performance during the evaluation.
The travel teams will be defined shortly after our tryouts (and make-up date if needed) are completed, at which time the players making the teams will be invited to join and register via a separate GRAA Travel Volleyball registration page.
GRAA Travel Volleyball will have weekly practices on Tuesday nights beginning early-September, and league games will run from late September through early December.
Players not selected to the travel program will be able to join our Competitive Winter Rec League that starts in December and runs into March. Travel team members will also be encouraged to join the Competitive Winter Rec League.
GRAA Volleyball is also planning a Boys Spring Travel program. Keep an eye out for those tryouts which will happen around Feb 2023.
The Registration "GRAA Volleyball-" is not currently available.
Working with the Glen Ridge School District Board of Education, we have improved our volleyball facilities, which are located in the Ridgewood Avenue School lower gym. With all the recent interest in volleyball among our youth (our program has expanded greatly these last few years, with 140 kids in the program between grades 3 and 8), the GRAA Volleyball coaching and management staff have decided to bring it to the parents!
Our adult league is open to anyone (aged 20 and up) interested in playing volleyball on Thursday nights. Games will start April 21st. But our first two sessions are on Tuesday, April 5, and Thursday, April 7, and you will be asked to choose one of these days when you register. We will have an open forum play those two nights and will use that time to determine teams. Our goal is to create teams that are similar in average skill level.
Teams will be 8 players per team, as we play games of 6v6. If you have a group of players already interested to be on the same team, you are able to list names in this registration. However, each player must register separately.
