WELCOME TO BOYS LACROSSE 2023

The youth lacrosse program has traditionally been one of Glen Ridge’s strongest programs, introducing the game and providing many boys with the skill set needed to play in High School, at all levels of College and even a few into the professional league.  GRAA is pleased to offer the following programs this spring:

Clinic 1 (PreK-K)

Our introductory clinic is the perfect entry to the game of lacrosse. The clinic is focused on having fun and learning the game.  The clinic will be run by Evolution Lacrosse club at Carteret Park, April through May.  Lacrosse sticks will be provided and no other equipment is required.  REGISTER NOW

Clinic 2 (1st-2nd)

Run by GRAA coaches, the clinic 2 will focus on the fundamentals, while introducing games against other teams within our town.  Clinic 2 will run Sunday afternoons at Carteret Park, April through May.  For the 2nd grade only, we have a few games against other towns.  Full equipment is required and not provided. REGISTER NOW

Grade 3 Travel

The 3rd Grade team is a step up from the clinic experience.  The focus is still on fundamentals, while introducing games against other town teams.  The 3rd grade team will start the first week of March and run through June, holding roughly 20+ practices and playing 10+ games.  The 3rd grade games are 7v7 and played sideline to sideline to encourage the boys to get more touches of the ball.  If available, the team will have an opportunity to play a tournament within the season.  Every player is required to have a US Lacrosse Membership to play and the link is here - https://membership.usalacrosse.com/login

Grades 4-8 Travel

We continue to focus on the fundamentals and, as the boys grow older, more experienced coaching.  The boys will practice 2-3 times per week, depending on the team and field availability.  Each team should have between 12 and 15 games and 25+ practices, running from March through the first week of June.  Each team will have the opportunity to play in a tournament if available in the season.  Every player is required to have a US Lacrosse Membership to play and the link is here - https://membership.usalacrosse.com/login

Philosophy

GRAA Boys Lacrosse will accommodate every player; there are no cuts.  Boys develop differently and at different times, so we believe it is important to welcome all players into our program.  If they are willing to put in the practice and work hard, they will find a way onto the field.  Our Coaches are volunteers and/or parents who have all played in High School and often at high levels of NCAA lacrosse. All coaches are required to have US Lacrosse (the governing body of lacrosse in the US) training and certification.

Equipment

The league that we are in requires every player in grades 3-8 to have the new shoulder pads that meet NOCSAE ND200 and SEI CERTIFIED (https://www.usalacrosse.com/lacrosse-chest-protector-faq). If you don’t have these pads you are not going to be able to play.  There is an investment in lacrosse equipment.  If you are unfamiliar with the game or unsure if your son will enjoy it, please email the GRAA so we can try to match you up with used Equipment before you make this investment.  We don’t want this to be a barrier for anyone to try the sport.

We look forward to seeing everyone on the fields this spring!  We are GR!

The Registration "GRAA Boys Lacrosse" is not currently available.
